My Journey to Holistic Healing
Anna Vakil PhD CCH
My past work life includes being a primary school teacher, urban planner, tenured university professor and researcher, executive officer for a national voluntary organization and policy consultant in five countries. For many years, I worked with and studied disadvantaged communities all over the world as they built collective empowerment through organizing and working together. I earned a PhD at the University of Michigan so that I could document this process and teach others about it as well. Over time, I learned that if provided with a few simple resources and the freedom to make their own decisions, communities are capable of accomplishing what no one thought possible. I maintain accreditation in this field and, more recently, I have become interested in the impact of policy decisions on the health of local communities.
I first encountered homeopathy more than 20 years ago while investigating alternatives to help preserve the health of my children. This enlightening experience, along with the treatment of my own conditions over many years, confirmed for me that nature has provided countless substances that when prepared in a certain way can stimulate the body to heal itself. In order to help empower others to be healthy, I became board-certified in homeopathy and have been seeing clients in my own health and wellness practice in Yuma, Arizona since 2013. I serve on national professional organizations and also teach the required research methods course at the American Medical College of Homeopathy.
